Two Truths & A Lie

Truth 1: Fall has arrived by calendar date, but it is still 90 outside.

Lie 1: The Latin American Festival was not as legit as the website boasted.

Truth 2: These 2 dishes made it all worth it.

Stuffed Peppers with Tomato Basil Cream Sauce

I’ve never eaten a stuffed pepper that I remember.  But I think they will be on the regular menu now.

And we used ground Turkey! Look at us being healthy…

just close the screen when it comes to whoopie pies later.

This last weekend at the Farmers Market they had tons of sweet peppers for sale.  I wish I could tell you all 4 came from there.  But only the cute 2 little ones did.

A whole basket full of colorful baby peppers for $3!

I’m that sister who shops for her other sisters.  Digging through shelves and bins and racks.  It’s like this serious hunt where you could come out winning in the end. Or not.  But it’s still a thrill.

Finding those peppers just about equated that thrill.

…And that’s how my Saturday morning went.

But what you need to take away from this is this recipe.  Again, check out these much more stunning pictures. I don’t know how she does it. (Which, by the way, I heard you shouldn’t see that movie.  Thanks for the tip Meredith!)

Tip for making for 2: Use 1/2 lb ground turkey/chicken.  1 small can of tomato sauce.  2ish tablespoons of half & half (or cream).  Cook all the rice and maybe save it for later?!

Then there were these….

My friend Christyn posted these a few days ago. And again, while it is sometimes still in the 90s, I think we just have to pretend it’s fall.

Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

They’ll make you feel like it’s fall no matter what Mother Nature says.

The middle? Pure sin (right Ally?)

Once. Many moons ago…when Meg, Hannah, and Katelyn shared an apartment, we had that cabinet above the stove labeled as the “Sin Cabniet”.  That’s where all the oreos, chips ahoy, doritos, candy, cookie mix….what have you…was kept.

The good thing? We hardly ever opened it since it was sometimes out of reach.  Bad thing?  It beckoned your name other times.

These will beckon you.  And make you (and your friends…cause it makes 30) twinge with sweetness and sugar.  And pumpkin love.
